I believe that every child is a unique individual that brings a variety of life experiences, interests, learning styles, culture, and language into the classroom.  Every student should have the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment. This learning environment should foster and challenge students’ strengths and support their areas in need of growth.

I believe it is essential to provide young students with the opportunity to explore things that make sense, are meaningful, and are relevant to their own life and interests.  My role as a teacher is to develop a curriculum around the student’s growing learning environment that fosters intrinsic motivation and stimulates their passion to explore and make new discoveries. By providing students with hands on activities, small and whole group instruction, and the opportunity to interact with their peers, students are often motivated to work hard and naturally accomplish the skills to reach their goals and become lifelong learners.

In my classroom, I use technology to enrich student learning and address the variety of learning styles of my students. Students learn how to become digital citizens and see technology as an everyday learning tool with endless possibilities to create, collaborate, and communicate inside and outside the classroom.

I have a strong passion for teaching and as an educator I hope to instill the values and skills students need to become lifelong learners. I am a strong, dedicated, and passionate individual who loves to work with children and see them grow. I value the importance of education and hope my students understand what a gift it is to have. I continually strive to be the best educator by collaborating with others, seeking opportunities to grow professionally, and continually reflecting on my teaching experiences.
